onehundredeight. october 30, 2010. "someone left their hat at radnor lake."

onehundredseven. october 29, 2010. "for the children."

halloween is weird. costumes. pumpkins with faces. taking candy from strangers...something that is frowned upon and warned against every other day of the year. but i'm not a halloween scrooge. i got some candy for at least five children to consume.

onehundredsix. october 28, 2010. "good and evil."

met someone for a chat today. got some pumpkin bread (good), and some caramel hot chocolate (bad, so bad) from starbucks (evil).

onehundredfive. october 27, 2010. "bleak."

went to a pogo meeting tonight, and the door was locked when i arrived. so i took a picture of this tree.

onehundredfour. october 26, 2010. "gloom."

gloomy weather actually doesn't make me feel gloomy. it makes me feel nice. it's good reading weather. good napping weather. good blanket and hot chocolate weather. what's not to like about that? the tornadoes, i suppose.

onehundredthree. october 25, 2010. "preparation."

got my veggies all chopped for the week. lunch to take to work, too. i think sometimes i pick what i'm going to make based on how much i get to chop.

onehundredtwo. october 24, 2010. "just like the cavemen did it."

onehundredone. october 23, 2010. "camping is serious business."

looks like a stern, pre-dinner scolding to me.

onehundred. october 22, 2010. "happy birthday to the ground."

my boss got us some halloween treats. including this straw. what does she really expect me to do with this? how bizarre would it be if someone walked in on me eating dinner, and i was drinking from this straw. and while i'm talking about it, the joy of a squiggly straw is to watch the liquid travel up it, so it needs to be transparent. i won't lie. i tried it out after i took this picture. i choked. so i threw it on the ground.

ninetynine. october 21, 2010. "flashback."

i took this picture four years ago. i was sitting in a circular garden-esque place on belmont's campus. because i like tulips. and because something was on my mind. i took this picture. someone said they liked it, and my picture-taking hobby was born.

ninetyeight. october 20, 2010. "first hot chocolate of the season."

there will be much more. i don't do coffee. this is my winter beverage of choice.

ninetyseven. october 19. 2010. "thwack."

the amazing avocado. the first time i bought one of these, i had to look up how to cut into it. the video i found on youtube used the word "thwack" 3 or 4 times to describe the motion required to get the seed out. that's all i have to say about an avocado. except i think they're pretty, and they taste good too.

ninetysix. october 18, 2010. "watch out!"

i got to see coach boyd in action tonight. i'm really impressed with soccer players. all that running, and footwork. i don't know how they do it. and willingly offering their heads to receive an object hurtling at it. that's crazy stuff. it was a great game to watch!

ninetyfive. october 17, 2010. "take two."

i love carving pumpkins! so much. i decided to try a difficult pattern this year. a wolf howling at the moon, with some eery trees. it broke. the results ended up looking like a lobster, fire, scary hands, or an emo kid depending on who you talked to. then i helped someone else with his pumpkin. my contribution was to scrape out the inside. and make it vomit...i've always wanted to do that.

ninetyfour. october 16, 2010. "keep it kosher."

this is a funny book. and interesting. info about Judaism always fascinates me (which is why i think it's so cool that my little sister Emily uses her interior design skills to specialize in kosher design!), and hearing people's honest thoughts about Christianity is great. and i really would love to go to a Hasidic rave now. but i can't, because i'm a woman. darn.

ninetythree. october 15, 2010. "chop, chop, chop."

chopping food is my favorite part of cooking. once i get a knife in my hand, i want to chop everything in sight. food, i mean. just food. this week was my first time to do anything with red cabbage. i had to look up a youtube video about how to cut into it. it was FUN. i had to slice out that root-y part of it. then chop, chop, chop. and it's pretty because it's purple.

ninetytwo. october 14, 2010. "arachnophobia."

this is my completed halloween decorations for work. my section of the hallway wall. we're having a competition. i don't even care what the prize is. i just want the street cred. why i think i should win: i weaved our class name into one of the webs. some of the webs are attached to the ceiling...and have spiders dangling from them. i used the children's handprints to make baby spiders. letting them help with decorations makes the mothers feel good. i'm really quite pleased with this. i usually hate halloween decorations because i think orange and black look terrible together.

ninetyone. october 13, 2010. "changing."

fall was all over the driveway today. it's covered with yellow leaves. but i like this picture because it has some of every color

ninety. october 12, 2010. "a neat house."

i went to a neighborhood association meeting tonight. which meets in a giant house from the first century of the world. it's really old and awesome. i especially liked this little corner here. an old tv. a cute little orange table. and an organ.

eightynine. october 11, 2010. "raspberries!"

(series: what's in my colander?)

what. a. treat. i love all berries. except blackberries. blech.

my plan for these raspberries: throw them in a pile of spinach leaves with strawberries and goat cheese. delicious. it's like dessert.

eightyeight. october 10, 2010.

a birthday. nice weather. fall evening. no mosquitoes. lots of people that i like. i wish every day could be like this. ("if you find in yourself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that you were made for another world." - c.s. lewis

eightyseven. october 9, 2010. "i won twice."

a birthday party. some time on a porch. and solitaire racing. a delightful end to an incredibly gross day.

eightysix. october 8, 2010. "arsenic and old lace."

i went to see a high school play tonight. nashville school of the arts. they did AMAZING. i was so impressed with their acting, and the set, and everything. (great job sierra!!)

eightyfive. october 7, 2010. "twenty-ish."

let's not talk about how weird this picture is. i aimed to finish this book tonight. i had 120 pages left. it didn't happen. i had to take cold medicine so i could breathe, which slowed my brain down. the phantom eluded me tonight. i have 45 more pages. it's an hour past my bedtime. sigh.

tomorrow i will resume this competition. with myself. and finish two books in one week!

eightyfour. october 6, 2010. "my favorite skyline."

i love driving past the skyline every day on my way to work. i don't know how to explain why.

don't you worry. i took this picture while sitting at a red light.

eightythree. october 5, 2010. "shelob's lair."

i started making halloween decorations at school.

i designed this spider and web after you-know-who. and the little baby spiders she wished she had are made out of the childrens handprints. and i weaved the name of our class into the left side. toddler 3. it was difficult.

eightytwo. october 4, 2010. "nineteen."

(series: the book i just finished).

this lady is all kinds of crazy. i enjoyed reading about the different cultures she visited. but mostly i wanted to give her a good shake and tell her to stop listening to the voices in her head. i'm not actually making that up. she listens to voices in her head.

also, it made me realize something. and this reveals much about the current state of things in my life. when i think about finding a new job, and making more money someday...i don't think about buying a house, or a car, or even paying off my loans. i think about where i want to go on vacation. i want. to go. on vacation.

eightyone. october 3, 2010. "the weekend is over."

i didn't get my camera back until the end of the day, at church. so i took a picture of the room after i helped clean things up. and sunday is over.

eighty. october 2, 2010. "creeeeepy."

i know it LOOKS funny. but when that look is aimed in your direction for an entire minute of your life...it's a little unsettling.

seventynine. october 1, 2010. "traffic."

my old old car had no a/c. so sitting in traffic made me want to cry. but my new old car has a/c. so i enjoy the ride. on the way to work, i sit in silence. no music. it's necessary before i start my loud day. on the way back, i turn the radio on, and sing along. really loud. which is necessary in a different way.
